ALBERTA L. LINDSEY, 86, of Johnsburg, IL, passed away on December 21, 2024 with her loving husband, Jim, by her side, after enduring a difficult battle with mylofibrosis, lymphoma and Alzheimer’s disease.
Alberta was born on January 3, 1938 to Albert Tjaden and Margaret Sharpe in LaBelle, Missouri. After graduating high school, she met James S. Lindsey of Newark, Missouri. The couple were married on August 10, 1956, and raised four children, leaving Missouri for northern Illinois in 1967. She is survived by her sister, Ida Mae Byers of Canton, MO and children Quentin (Sharon) of Johnsburg, IL, Clayton (Brenda) of Byron, IL, Kathleen (Kevin Massie) of Island Lake, IL and James Nathan Lindsey of Belvidere, IL. She is also survived by six grandchildren/step-grandchildren, Nicolle (Damon Das) , Maggie(Chad Wilmarth), Cody(Joslynn), Molly(Nathan Walters), Ailis and Nora, 11 great-grandchildren/step-great-grandchildren, Brandon (Becca), Brittany (Eddie Romo), Alyssa (Daniel Hare), Cohenn, Charlie, Laine, Cain, Colton, Locklan, Malachi and Lena, and 3 great-great step-grandchildren, Eli, Code and Ivy, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with spending time with family, Alberta had a passion for sewing, baking/cooking, cake decorating, ceramics, square-dancing, Chicago sports teams and watching Fox News. She took great pride and pleasure in having hand-crafted wedding gowns for two of her daughters-in-law, as well as baking the wedding cakes.
Alberta was predeceased by her parents, brothers Emerson Tjaden (Althea) of Camp Point, IL, Ellis Fishback (Gerda) of Chicago, IL, Raymond Tjaden and Richard Tjaden (Juliet) of Leavensworth, KS, sister Melba Tjaden and daughter-in-law Joanne Lindsey. A visitation will be held at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, Cary, IL on December 30 from 10:00 to noon, with services to follow immediately thereafter. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Alzheimer’s Association or Heartland Hospice.
