Alan Roger Struve, age 74, of Cary, IL, passed away on November 30, 2025. He was born April 28, 1951 in Elgin, IL to his loving parents, William and Arlene (née Schmitt) Struve.

Alan’s family was the heart of his world. His marriage to Colleen Conway brought two beloved daughters, whom he cherished deeply and supported with steadfast love. He later married his second wife, Tricia Baldwin, with whom he shared companionship. Known for his willingness to help anyone in need, Alan rarely, if ever, asked for help himself. Alan was generous and independent, and had a spunky sense of humor.

Throughout his life, Alan embraced both adventure and simple pleasures. He enjoyed boating and waterskiing, especially during memorable summer vacations on the Mississippi River. Family fondly recalls watching him waterski from lock to lock—an endurance feat that lasted for hours, much to the dismay of his sisters who had to watch him all those hours. As a teenager, he was a member of the Norge Ski Club, beginning a lifelong love for outdoor activities.

Drafted into the United States Army in 1971, Alan served honorably for two years, spending time stationed in Germany and Greece and attaining the rank of Specialist 4.

Alan built a long and reliable career as a machine mechanic at True Value in Cary. His commitment to hard work and dependability earned him multiple awards for years of perfect attendance—a testament to his strong sense of responsibility and pride in his work.

Later in life, Alan found enjoyment in playing bingo and tackling word search puzzles, activities that offered calm and contentment.

Alan will be remembered for his generous spirit, his steadfast nature, and the love he held for his daughters and family. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the laughter he shared, and the strength he embodied each day.

Alan was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Tricia; daughters, Becky and Mandy; and grandson, Matthew. He is survived by his sisters, Alison Oliver, Linda Sorensen, and Diane Postl.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm, Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Road, Cary, IL 60013.

Interment will be private.
