• Dorothy Mildred Bettis passed peacefully on July 31, 2018. Dorothy was born on January 21, 1933 to Alice and Henry Prybylski in Chicago, Illinois. A devoted and loving mother to Karen (Sam) Taylor, Robert (Jean) Bettis, and Sandy Gallagher. A cherished grandmother of Danielle (Erik) Hauser, Christine Wolff, Erin Gallagher, Megan (John) Wieszchowski, Brooke Bettis, Brad Bettis, Cole Bettis and RJ Bettis. A proud great-grandmother of Braden and Ryan Hauser. Dorothy is survived by her brother, Dick Prybell of Versailles, Missouri, George (Ann) Bielinski of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Jim (Darlene) Bielinski of Versailles, Missouri. Dorothy was a woman of high dignity and class, whose finest quality was her generosity and selfless devotion to her family, friends, church and faith. After raising her children, Dorothy went back to school, graduating at 50 years old from Saint Mary of the Woods College in Indiana with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. Dorothy exhibited a constant attitude of humility through her service work at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Cary, Illinois. She was active in the PADS program, which feeds the homeless community, and was a leader for the Hope for the Haitians Program, which builds homes, wells, and schools for those affected by natural disasters in Haiti. Family was everything to Dorothy, and each of us have a special memory & place in our hearts for her. We wish to thank the caregivers at Journey Care in Barrington who showed both Dorothy and her family great compassion. There will be a visitation for Dorothy on Monday, August 6, 2018 beginning at 9:30 AM and concluding with a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM at SS.
