Doris Ann Talamo

Doris A. Talamo, age 87, of Cary, passed away on November 26, 2018 at her home with her daughters by her side.She was born on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of Harry and Ella Krueger. That same night her father purchased a silver bell ornament that would hang on her Christmas tree each year thereafter. Dorie married John J. Talamo on July 9, 1955 and became an instant mom to John II. In the years to follow they welcomed two daughters to their family, raising their children on the northwest side of Chicago.Her life was devoted to husband, home and children. When her children were grown she was employed by Loyola University and later worked as a legal secretary for Bulk Petroleum. She readily accepted new challenges and responsibilities.Family was so important that John and Dorie moved to Algonquin after retirement to be close to the grandchildren she adored. She was known as Ma to all who loved her.John passed away after 60 years of marriage on January 15, 2016. Dorie is survived by John II (Jan) of California and their daughters Dana (Dr. Michael Jones) and Lauren. She is also survived by her daughters Sue (Tom) Nemec and their children Juliane and Marissa, and Amy (Jeff) Ellingson and their children Ben (Megan), Jenna, Hilary (Dr. Kohl Boydston) and Nick. Ma loved her kids and grandkids with all her heart, even more special were her great grandkids, Maddie and Emmett.Dorie's sweet, kind, and gentle nature and quick wit made it impossible not to love her and she leaves behind many friends... and a whole lot of Winnie the Poohs!A Mass of Resurrection will be offered at St. Peter and Paul Church, in Cary, on Friday, Nov.30, 2018 at 10am. Visitation will be at 9:00 am at church prior to Mass. Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery in DesPlaines.
