Barbara J. Nitschneider

Barbara J. Nitschneider, nee Rupe, age 71, of Trout Valley, passed away on October 22, 2018. She was born in Chicago on November 30, 1946, the daughter of the late Harold and Magdalene Rupe. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Nitschneider, on September 21, 2018.She is survived by her brother Thomas Rupe (Rebecca) of Downers Grove, her niece Kathryn Ambs (Ryan) and her nephew, David Rupe (Ashli), great nephew, Henry Rupe and great niece, Madelyn Rupe. Barbara grew up in Park Ridge and graduated from Northern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and held a Master's degree from Concordia University. She had a long career as an elementary school teacher at Marion Jordan Elementary School in Palatine.Barbara was extremely active in the International Association of Laryngectomies; serving on the Board of Directors. She was also a lifelong animal lover dedicating volunteer hours at Main Stay Therapeutic Farm and raising many dogs, cats and birds in her home with her husband Bob. She was an active member of Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church in Huntley. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1 at Shepherd of the Prairie Lutheran Church, 10805 Main Street, Huntley, IL 60142 Visitation 10:00 AM, Service 11:00 AM . A luncheon will be served at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to bestfriends.org or graftonfoodpantry.org.
