Elizabeth Lenore (Booth) Fornek

Elizabeth “Liz” Fornek (nee Booth), born January 26th 1965, passed away January 1st 2024 in Cary, Illinois. She was a devoted wife of 24 years to Greg Fornek, and mother to Leslie (21) and Denton “Denny” (19) Fornek.
Liz grew up in Marietta, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. She studied at Young Harris College and Kennesaw College. She started her career as a teacher for Nature’s Classroom in Connecticut, where she also completed her Masters degree at Quinnipiac College. She then moved to Illinois, where she continued to teach history and social studies for middle grade students.
Liz married Greg Fornek on July 17, 1999 in Des Plaines, Illinois. They moved to Cary, where they raised their children in a home filled with dogs and cats, flowers, laughter, and love. Liz loved tending to her plants, both inside and in her garden. She never met an animal she didn’t like and was happy to take in a stray. She loved collecting vintage kitchenware and brought color to everything she touched.
Liz was a light to her community. In addition to her husband and children, Liz is also survived by her mother, Glenda Booth, and sister, Leslie Biancardi. She was a cherished aunt to her nieces and nephews, and treasured by her mother-, father-, sisters-, and brothers-in-law. Her friends and neighbors were her “chosen family” and will also carry her memory. Those who knew her would a recall a woman of integrity, a lover to all animals, an avid gardener, a caring wife and mother, and the sweetest soul.
