Shirley M. Sedivec

Shirley Mae Sedivec passed away April 7, 2018 at Good Shepherd/Journey Care in Barrington.She was born November 19, 1927, in Chicago, to the late Fred & Ethel Schultz.On November 3, 1949 she married Charles (Charlie) Sedivec, who preceded her in death in 2006. She had a sister Charlotte (Lewis) Johnston, and a brother Fred, Jr. (Peggy), who also preceded her in death.Shirley is survived by her daughter, Laurie (Dan) Verseman, and her son Charles (Molly) Sedivec, all of Cary. She was a loving and devoted grandmother to her grandchildren: Ryan Verseman, Santa Monica, California, Kristin (Jen Nelson) Sedivec, Brooklyn, New York, Jared (Sasha) Verseman, Fort Collins, Colorado, Kate Sedivec, Anchorage, Alaska, and Michaela (Diego) Rendon, Bensenville, Illinois, and great-grandmother to Lincoln Rendon.Shirley is also survived by her nieces Judy (Bob) Kavanagh, Pam (Bob) Burhans, Karen (Jim) Meier, Cheryl (the late Chuck) Spiteri, Carol Schultz Junge, and many grandnieces and grandnephews.She is also survived by her dear friends of many years, Marion Hanke and Eileen Manno.Those who knew Shirley, loved her for her wit and fun loving spirit. She enjoyed bowling, tried her hand at golf, but never quite managed to learn to ski. Shirley loved to play cards and Scrabble. Her work experience was mostly bookkeeping, with her favorite employers being the Fox River Grove picnic grove, Branded Steak House and D.C. Verseman. Family and friends were happy to be able to celebrate Shirley's 90th birthday with her this past November.There will be a Memorial Service at Living Grace Community Church, 1500 Silver Lake Road, in Cary. Service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 14.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Shirley's honor to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
