Rina Victoria Orellana Shemaitis

Rhina (Rina) Victoria Orellana Shemaitis, 86, of Fox River Grove passed away on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2016, in Roswell, Georgia.She leaves her children, grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. Rina is survived by Rosemarie Shemaitis and her son, Stefan (Sarah) Shemaitis and great granddaughter, Bryn, all from Illinois; Ray (Karen) Shemaitis, of Houston, Texas; Randy Shemaitis (Keith Zabel) of Palm Springs, California; and Rena (Rob) Butler, and her children, Wes, Nic, Taylor, Kale, Olivia and Marcella, of Roswell, Georgia.Born on November 14, 1929, in Chalchuapa, El Salvador, an only child, she moved to San Francisco, California, where she met Raymond Shemaitis (d. 1979), who was on his way to the Korean War. Shortly after his return, they married in San Francisco, and then moved to Chicago, where Raymond was originally from. They relocated to Bellwood, Illinois, and then in 1968, moved to Fox River Grove, where Rina lived until she left in January 2016, for an extended visit to Georgia.Rina loved animals and always had at least a cat and a dog. She gave often to charities for animals and at her death, she had a dog and three cats, which were all rescues. Rina will be cremated, according to the dictates of the Catholic Church, and then will be buried alongside her husband, Raymond, at St. John's Cemetery, in Fox River Grove, Illinois.
