Richard G. Dufern

FLAG RICHARD G. DUFERN Rich Dufern, age 85 of Cary passed away February 4, 2016. He was born January 16, 1931 in Chicago, the son of George and Elsie Dufern. Rich is survived by six children: Richard L. (Sandi) Dufern, Dawn E. (Dan) Phillips, Denise E. Dufern, Dana R. (Jeff) Utroska, David G. (The late Susie) Dufern and Frances (Peter Russo) Dufern, his adored grandchildren: Zackory, Jacob, Sara, Patrick, Christopher, J.R., Jennifer, Kerri, Megan, Rian and Millie, his great grandchildren Oliver and Parker, a sister Anita Hinkle as well as a sister-in-law Kaye Dufern. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances (nee Powers) Dufern who passed away July 14, 2003, and two brothers Horst and Heinz Dufern as well as a sister Irma Susinka. Rich served in the Navy during the Korean War; he was also a longtime member of the St. Barnabas Choir. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 12, 2016 at St. Barnabas Lutheran Church, 8901 Cary-Algonquin Rd., Cary, beginning at 10:00 AM and concluding with a Funeral Service at 12:00 Noon.
