Quentin F. SkoulundBorn July 1, 1925 Chicago, ILDied January 27, 2015 Cary, ILQuentin Frederick Skoulund was born July 1, 1925 in Chicago to Fred and Marie (nee Kasper) Skoulund and raised in Bensenville. He married Cornelia J Morris on May 19, 1951 in Elmhurst. After graduating from The University of Illinois Pharmacy School in 1956, they moved to Fox River Grove, opened Skoulund Pharmacy and raised their 3 daughters.Quentin proudly served his country in 2 wars. He joined the navy at 17 as a corpsman and was stationed in England before crossing the English Channel on D-Day in an LST, supporting the invasion on Utah Beach. He made a total of 42 crossings in the weeks that followed. While in the Marine Reserves he was called back to service for the Korean War shortly after his wedding. After Korea he finished college on the GI Bill before he and Cornelia settled in Fox River Grove. They sold their store in 1973, then he went to work for Osco Drug until retiring. Quentin had many hobbies including coin collecting, wood working from his tool bench that rivaled any carpenters' and stamp collecting, his greatest passion. He loved helping his daughters and grandsons with school projects and cheering them on at sporting events. He was active in his community serving on the Board of Directors of Cary State Bank (now BMO Harris), District 155 School Board, treasurer of Town Homes of Haber Court and the vestry of St. Marks.Quentin is survived by his 3 daughters; Cornelia "Neelie" (Neils) Kruse, Sarah Skoulund and Margaret (Tom) Merz, 2 grandsons; Neils "Andrew" Kruse (Dana Ratzek) and Alex Kruse (Fiancee-Jessica Mucha) and his nieces; Carol Joncours, Linda Douglass, Judith (Robert) Scheuerman and Lois (Dennis) Beach.He was proceeded in death by his wife of 63 years, Cornelia, on December 21, 2014, his parents and 2 brothers, Dayton McIntyre and Walter McIntyre.Services will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church 337 Ridge Road Barrington Hills IL. Saturday, January 31, 2015 with a memorial visitation beginning at 12:00 noon and concluding with a Memorial Service at 1:30 PM.In lieu of flowers donations to either the VNC Honor Flight of Northern Illinois (515 Skyline Dr. FRG IL 60021 website:veteransnetworkcommittee.com) or Advocate Hospice (Lake Zurich Illinois office) To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Quentin F.
