Phyllis R. DeRusha of Cary, 95, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Il. Phyllis was born on August 19, 1921, in Chicago, Il., to John and Lillian Steinlein. She married Wayne E. DeRusha on Aug. 23, 1952, in Wauconda, Il. Phyllis was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and daughter. She served and managed banquets for decades at the Old Orchard Country Club in Mount Prospect before becoming a primary caregiver for her disabled adult son. She took great pride in all her roles in life and was known for her red hair, hard work, and devotion to her family.Phyllis loved spending time in her yard, watching the wildlife pass through, but most of all being the favorite place to hang out together around the kitchen table with a cup of coffee.Phyllis is survived by her children, Holly (Robert) Kohley of Cary and James Mason of Decatur; her grandchildren, Jay Rebscher, Paul Vandeven and Leyla Kohley; and a great-grandson, Jackson Vandeven. Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a daughter, Lonna Rebscher; a son, Douglas; her grandparents; aunts and uncles; and her mother- and father-in-law. Visitation at the Kahle-Moore Funeral Home, 403 Silver Lake Rd., Cary on Thursday, September 1, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and funeral service Friday, September 2, 2016 at 10:30 A.M.at the funeral home followed by interment at Windridge Memorial Park.
