Leonard A. Serio

Lenny Serio, 85, of Crystal Lake, IL passed away, Monday, December 25, 2017 at home.He was born on June 10, 1932 to Leonard and Doris Serio in Burlington, IL and was raised in the Elgin area. On August 18, 1956 Lenny married Patricia A. Davidson.The couple made their family home in Cary, IL. With a few short years in Florida and settled in Crystal Lake.Lenny served in the USAF working on F86 jets & KC97 fuel tankers, then the Air National Guard. He was a flight engineer on the KC97 and a flight refueling specialist and instructor. He retired in 1968.Lenny made a life as a carpenter working on many of the local homes in Cary and then moved on to commercial enterprises.He thoroughly enjoyed his pet schnauzers, car restorations with his son, his weekly bowling time with his friends in Elgin and staying active at the local Lake in the Hills Airport flying many different types of aircraft. Lenny was a devoted husband and was an integral part of his son's life.Lenny is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Nancy, and his son Barry. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, a sister Marilyn, a daughter in law, Susan, many nieces and nephews and friends.A memorial will be planned at a future date to be determined.
